In the early nineteen hundreds, the racing of craft built to the new 15 metre rule was a high-light of that Golden Age of Yachting. Nineteen had originally hit the startline, but only very few survived.
Beeing around at the yard ”Fairlie Restorations” during the making of ”Enchanted By The Dragon” I was whitnes of the final touches to the new keel for ”The Lady Anne”, It was made possible by the owner, as well as Skipper Paul Goss and the yard crew to document the process of her return to original, which gives an idea of building in the old days. In 1999 the process cumilated with her launching. Just a little later the skills of her crew racing her against another 15mR in Mediterranean show off the excellence of William Fife´s creation to the full. The sleeping beauty had been kissed awake ….. by more than one prince ….. |
