Professor David Ryder-Turner had become not only an expert of the development of yachting in it´s so called Golden Age ranging from the middle of the 19th century to World War II. Rather he seems to be born with a deep understanding and fascination for the aesthetics and craftmanship involved. He was born at the Clyde when those haydays were still going on – somehow in the middle of it – and he returned there after retiring from his teaching in Australia and studiing yacht-design and -building. Famous US yards started to build to his designs besides in his involvement to restore classic yachts worldwide.
David seems to be the perfect person for giving an overview of the whoöe development in those years, because he can combine his knowledge with his love and his gifted way to pull the audience into the his “lessons”. |
